Our Story

Shamajoy was founded by me, Shama!  I live in the great state of Texas and Houston is where I call home.  Yes, that is me, and I am wearing my Houston Astros shirt to show my pride.

I wanted to start a business that made a positive impact and use my personal creativity to enhance an everyday product.  After 1 year in product research, I realized eco-friendly bags would be a great start, since it is one of the three top offenders in plastic consumption.  The 2nd year was spent in product design and development, ensuring our products were both functional and stylish!  The 3rd and final year was spent in testing and re-design, to get the bags exactly to the specs and quality I want for my customers. 

After an exhausting and quite rewarding 3 years, we are now ready to launch, and I am so excited to share my vision with all of you.  This process has been a true labor of love and has given me so much inner joy.  I hope you will see that our mission to reduce single use plastics will be the start of your joy, may it inspire you to create your own joy.
